Natasha's story

Sydney

Natasha is a 21 year-old woman living with an intellectual disability who lives with her mother Heidi. They have been working with LAC Annie from the Sydney District.

Natasha’s major goal was to secure paid work. Within only six months of her first plan, she was able to transition from a work experience program into employment. She now spends three days a week at DSA Packaging Solutions. To date, she has been published in the DSA pamphlet, met many celebrities, made new friends and been offered learning opportunities in communications and secretarial work.

Other supports were included in the plan to build Natasha’s capacity and increase her involvement in the community. Natasha spent one day with her support worker, and one day in a group program that enabled her to explore new places and meet new people. Plus, she continuously gained valuable knowledge and awareness through weekly sessions with her psychologist.

Her plan demonstrated flexibility. Once she secured employment, Natasha had an unscheduled plan review to adjust support to her changed circumstances.

Natasha has grown so much since leaving school that people would be shocked to see her! It has been fantastic to see the positive impact of Natasha’s NDIS supports on both our lives.
